Social media has had a profound impact on the way we communicate and network, but nothing will replace the tangible world beyond the cave wall shadows online. Forums and conferences are vital means of information dissemination and people provocation. But how does old-fashioned speaking in front of a crowd remain current with online convenience and expedience? The NSW Knowledge Management Forums discuss.

Katie Chatfield is a digital strategist and co-founder of Interesting South, an “unconference” celebrating knowledge and curiosity. With her experience in front of and within conference audiences, Katie suggests that conferences can be more engaging if speakers told a story instead of merely presenting facts and if they interact with an audience empowered to participate.
